Active Directory

Active directory is a directory service developed by Microsoft for Windows networks. It enables the management of permissions and access to network resources by administrators. The database (or directory) contains information about the network, meaning the devices and users as well as their permissions. The services enable the management of authorization (who is allowed to do what) as well as the authentication of the users and devices.
