Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) is a standardized list that contains publicly known information-security vulnerabilities and exposures. It can help IT-experts to identify and fix known vulnerabilities and exposures more easily to make IT-systems safer. Each CVE gets a unique ID so that the information about it can be exchanged easily.
