Data Access Transparancy

Data access transparency is the ability to keep an eye on anything that happens to your data: which files were accessed last, who can access which files, who deleted files, who moved files, where files were moved to, are files getting manipulated and so on. This transparency can be achieved by recording and showing all data access to the central storage system.

Data access transparency is very important to have an insight into what happens in storage systems, as they are often a black box. Tools for data access transparency help improve data quality, as IT teams understand where data is stored and how it is used. Also, suspicious, and malicious activity can be detected faster, because a notification is sent when suspicious activity is detected. Human errors can happen easily and are the leading cause of data loss in companies. With data access transparency, the damage can be undone within a few clicks.
