Social Engineering

Social engineering aims to exploit human error to reveal specific information for illegal reasons by manipulating a person. In terms of cybercrime, these manipulative techniques tend to lure users into exposing the targeted data, spreading malware infections, or giving access to restricted systems. Attacks usually happen in form of any personal or virtual communication. The attacker starts by collecting information about the target-person before establishing a relationship and initiating interaction to build trust. Once the attacker found an attackable weakness of the victim, he uses that to exploit him and gain the desired access or information.
